Digital Realm Entertainment recently participated in DigiArt Fest 2026 (10th Edition), held in Kampala, Uganda from March 7–8, 2026. The event was hosted by Stride Metaverse Studio and brought together digital artists, game developers, esports organizers, designers, and technology leaders from across East Africa.

The festival celebrated the growing connection between art, gaming, technology, and immersive media, while also creating opportunities for collaboration across the region.
The event involved a couple of African countries, including;
- Djibouti
- Ethiopia
- Kenya
- Madagascar
- Somalia
- Rwanda
- Tanzania
- Uganda
- International support from France and global esports stakeholders
The general objectives for this years event are;
- Inspire young people to imagine and build new digital futures
- Strengthen Uganda’s gaming and digital arts ecosystem
- Celebrate and amplify women’s participation and leadership in gaming and esports
- Promote inclusivity and challenge gender stereotypes in tech and gaming
- Encourage regional and continental collaboration in creative industries
- Celebrate a decade of DigiArt Fest while charting new creative territory
Game Development Workshop – Blender to Unity
As part of the festival, Digital Realm Entertainment hosted a hands-on workshop titled:
Games Asset Creation Pipeline
The Senior Software Developer at Digital Realm Entertainment, Elcid Chawa, lead this workshop. The workshop introduced participants to the basic workflow used in real game development production.
Topics Included:
- Low-poly character modeling in Blender
- Basic topology for games
- Materials and simple texturing
- Exporting models for game engines
- Importing assets into Unity
- Adding player controls
- Testing the character in a playable scene
The objective was to demonstrate how 3D assets move from modeling software into a real-time game engine.


Participants were able to create a simple character and control it inside Unity, giving them practical experience in the game development pipeline.
🌍 Esports Tournament and Panel Discussions
DigiArt Fest 2026 also featured esports activities, including the Swahili Esports Championship on Tekken 8, hosted by Sages Africa, with a ladies competition that highlighted the increasing participation of women in competitive gaming in East Africa.
In addition to the tournament, panel discussions were held with esports federations’ presidents and coordinators from different East African countries. The discussions focused on:
- The future of esports in Africa
- Building structured gaming communities
- Supporting young developers and players
- Creating opportunities in digital entertainment
These conversations showed that the gaming industry in the region is growing and gaining institutional support.

The event was honored by the presence of several important partners and organizations, including:
- SAGES Africa
- The French Embassy to Uganda, represented by the Ambassador
- Stride Metaverse Studio (event host)
- Regional esports coordinators and organizers
Their participation demonstrated the importance of collaboration between creative industries, governments, and international partners in building the future of digital media in Africa.

🚀 Upcoming: Game Asset Build Day
Digital Realm Entertainment is ready to drive collaboration in the gaming space, thus encouraging all stakeholders in the gaming industry to improve collaboration especial in the domain of assets usage. Later in April 2026, we will be hosting a Game Asset Build day to enable creators build and leverage the Pixel Realm Marketplace for asset exchange and sharing. 🚀🎮
